Echoes & Reflections is proud to partner with Chapman University for this year's Sala and Aron Samueli Holocaust Art & Writing Contest, presented by Chapman University and The 1939 Society.
Middle and high school teachers can register now for this unique learning opportunity, which allows students to explore Holocaust survivor testimony and create an art, poetry, prose or film piece exploring what survivors “carried” with them, and reflecting upon what they, too, carry with them and why.
Chapman University welcomes schools throughout the U.S. and abroad and invites them to submit up to three entries per school in any combination of the categories.
Students will be eligible to win a first prize award of $400 in each category. Educators and schools will also be eligible to win a first prize of $200 each.
First-place student winners in the United States, their parents/guardians, and teachers will be invited to participate in an expense-paid study trip June 23-27, 2025, to visit the Museum of Tolerance and other sites in Los Angeles, as well as to meet with members of The 1939 Society, a community of Holocaust survivors, descendants, and friends.
Submissions via postal mail are due by February 3, and digital submissions are due by February 5, 2025.
